Casual Weekend Wear

This one is from Saturday. Slight hangover and perhaps not really on top of my game, I opted for simple, warm and casual clothes.

The pea coat is still waiting for me to take it to my tailor to have it shortened. About an inch or perhaps a bit more and it will be good. Underneath you will find a cream knit jacket, a blue houndstooth spread collar shirt and a brown Equus Leather bridle leather belt.

The shoes are my new split toe derbies, which are quite handsome I think. The perspective fools a bit in the lower picture, making them appear longer than I would say they really look. The upper picture is closer to the truth. Socks are thick brown wool with cream heels.

  1. Really loving this outfit! It's like from a Ralph Lauren ad, like a weekend visiting the parents in their Hamptons mansion.

Also I really like the shoes, they are awesome, nice find. It would be really nice if in a couple of months you could make a before/after post, to see how they wear and crease

    1. Heh, too bad my parents aren't from the Hamptons.

I've worn them about 10 times now, and they seem to get some creases, but so far pretty good. Very good for the price tag I would say.

    2. I am glad to hear that, I am really contemplating on getting a pair when I return to spending mode! It really blows my mind on how good they look, gotta be the best looking last in the price range. Can you tell me what type of sole they have?

    3. They've been equipped with a Ridgeway/Victory type of sole, and the pattern is actually the text Loding. A bit silly, but an OK rubber sole. I do have a kind of feeling that my Meermins will perhaps age better, but these are definitely a good option.

    4. Thanks for the answer. About the meermins I've read only good things on other blogs and forums, as I am sure you did too before your purchase.I guess their labour cost are at a minimum because there has to be a compromise but I really don't care where a product is made if it holds my standards of quality be it Northampton, Spain, Portugal or China.

Btw, next week I am taking the cotton DB suitsupply to the tailor so if you haven't tailored it already I will tell you how that goes

    5. I agree, and so far my Meermins have been pretty good. The only thing I don't like about them is the piece of leather under the wing. That piece being made frm three pieces pretty much ruins the whole idea of longwings for me.

  2. I would strongly advise you not to shorten the coat. Would throw the balance off & it looks great like it is.
    Shoes are great!

    1. Hey Timo,

I personally think a pea coat should be a little bit shorter. This one is too close to a normal woolen overcoat in length, and as an inch shorter would work better. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts. :)
